Web design & development

Websites built to be found and built to convert

A website that looks good but loads slowly, buries its contact form and cannot be crawled properly is an expensive brochure. We build WordPress and WooCommerce sites that earn their place in your marketing.

Design and search structure, decided together

Design and SEO get treated as separate jobs far too often. A designer delivers something beautiful, then months later an SEO consultant explains why the heading structure is wrong, the images are enormous and every page targets the same phrase.

We do both at once. Page structure, URL hierarchy, heading order and internal linking are decided at the wireframe stage, not retrofitted afterwards. It costs nothing extra to get right first time and a great deal to fix later.

Everything is built mobile-first, because that is where most of your visitors already are, and tested on real screen sizes rather than assumed to work.

What’s included

  • Custom WordPress build, or WooCommerce where you need to sell online
  • Mobile-first responsive layout tested at phone, tablet and desktop widths
  • SEO-ready structure: clean URLs, heading hierarchy, canonicals, internal linking
  • Core Web Vitals work: image optimisation, lazy loading, minimal script weight
  • Contact or enquiry forms with spam protection and validation
  • SSL, security hardening and automated backups configured
  • XML sitemap, robots.txt and Search Console connection
  • Handover walkthrough so you can update your own content afterwards

The problem

What a rebuild actually fixes

The site is slow on mobile

Oversized images and heavy plugin stacks push load times past the point where visitors leave. Speed is both a ranking factor and a conversion factor.

Visitors cannot find the next step

If the enquiry route is not obvious on every page, traffic you already paid for leaves without doing anything.

Search engines cannot read the structure

Broken heading order, duplicate titles and missing canonicals make it harder for search engines to work out what each page is for.

You cannot update it yourself

A site only your developer can edit becomes stale, because every small change turns into a request, a quote and a wait.

Our process

How we build a website

1

Scope and sitemap

We agree what pages exist, what each one is for and which search intent it owns. This is where cannibalisation gets prevented rather than discovered later.

2

Wireframe and design direction

Layout and hierarchy first, visual polish second, so the structure is right before anyone argues about colours.

3

Build

Developed on a staging environment, mobile-first, with performance and structure checked as we go rather than at the end.

4

Migration and redirects

If we are replacing an existing site, every indexed URL is mapped and redirected so the rankings you already have carry across.

5

Launch and handover

Final QA across devices, tracking connected, then a walkthrough so you can manage your own content confidently.

Packages

Fixed-scope packages for this service

Website packages are priced by page count and whether you need ecommerce. Migrations from an existing site are quoted after we review the current URL structure.

FAQs

Website questions

Will I lose my Google rankings if you rebuild my site?

Not if the migration is done properly. Every existing indexed URL gets mapped to its new equivalent with a 301 redirect, and we avoid changing URLs that are already ranking unless there is a good reason. Ranking loss after a rebuild is almost always a redirect problem, not an inevitability.

Can I update the website myself afterwards?

Yes. We build on WordPress specifically so you are not dependent on us for text and image changes, and the handover includes a walkthrough of the parts you are most likely to edit.

Do you build online stores?

Yes, using WooCommerce. That covers physical products, digital downloads and fixed-price services. Payment gateway setup is included, though the merchant account itself has to be approved in your business name.

How long does a website take?

It depends mainly on page count and how quickly content and feedback come back from your side. Content is usually the bottleneck, not the build, so we agree a content deadline at the start.

Who owns the website when it is finished?

You do. The domain, the hosting account and the site itself stay in your name. We do not hold client sites hostage on our own accounts.

Send us your current site, or tell us what you need if there is not one yet. We will scope it honestly, including telling you if a rebuild is not what you need.
